《Journal of Wuhan University of Technology(Materials Science Edition)》创刊于1986年，是由武汉理工大学主办。 《Journal of Wuhan University of Technology(Materials Science Edition)》为国内材料领域的综合性学术刊物，本刊1999年受到中国科协和国家自然科学基金联合颁发的重点扶持性资助，被中国科技论文统计源期刊，中国科学引文数据库来源期刊，中国学术期刊综合评价数据库来源期刊，中国期刊网和万方数据网源刊等收录。 《Journal of Wuhan University of Technology(Materials Science Edition)》刊载材料科学（非金属材料、复合材料、有机高分子材料、金属材料等）的学术论文。重点发表纳米材料、无机非金属材料科学及工程、生物材料、复合材料新技术等学科且受到国家自然科学基金、863项目、十五十一五等计划项目、973项目等国家级科学基金资助的论文。 《Journal of Wuhan University of Technology(Materials Science Edition)》的主要任务是：反映材料及其相关领域内最新科研及工程应用成果(包括新理论、新产品、新工艺等)，主要刊登材料基础研究及应用研究的学术论文，注重发表校内外作者的省部级以上科研基金资助课题的产出论文。读者对象为国内外从事材料及其相关专业的工作者及大专院校师生。
